We are delighted with the end result - our windows look amazing, work smoothly as they should and the overall appearance of the house is enhanced. The heritage architect dealing with the kitchen extension planning permission (replacement roof and all rear ground floor windows and doors) commented that we would “need to match the replacements….. with the extremely high quality refurbishment carried out on the front and upper rear sashes/casements”.
Dear Rob, The two big sash windows that you have recently completed the full restorations on in the sitting room at Crocks have by far exceeded our expectations. The previous work that you carried out on the windows in the master bedroom and bathroom was wonderful, but what you have done in the sitting room is unbelievable. Both windows now look like and work as they must have done when first installed (or probably even better!), and the fine detail of the original wood mouldings that can now be seen in all their glory - after what is probably approaching 200 years of continual overpainting - is a joy to behold. The speed and quality of your work is truly outstanding and we cannot thank you enough for what you and the team have accomplished within the tight limitations of working on a Grade II* listed building. The whole family is simply bowled over with the results and it has been a real pleasure dealing with you and this our second testimonial coming so soon after the first is again well and truly deserved.
Good afternoon, Rob. I went around to Crocks this morning to look at the reinstalled windows, which quite literally look brand new and are absolutely amazing. The fact that the bathroom window does not operate as silkily smooth as the bedroom one is obviously no reflection on you whatsoever and the fact that it operates at all is a miracle compared to the years of being firmly stuck in the closed position - a definite win in my book! Mum is also thrilled to bits with all the work that you have done and cannot sing your praises loudly enough. We have received your invoice which Mum paid this morning - worth every penny - and we will certainly be leaving you some extremely positive feedback. I've just had 4 sash windows restored in my Grade II listed property. Firstly Rob and Andy couldn't be nicer to work with. Going above and beyond to make sure everything they did worked with my schedule. Polite, honest and helpful. And then the work. It isn't often that you come across real craftsmanship. But I honestly believe my windows are restored to how they were on the day they were fitted 150 years ago. I had to have sections of window replaced, all the cords and weights replaced, complete redecoration etc etc. But I cannot put into words how beautiful the end product is. The weightlessness, the fine shaping of the wood - all the old layers of paint stripped back to restore the original fine workmanship. We didn't know the full extent of what needed to be done before they were opened up - but the final invoice contained no surprises and I feel so pleased with the end result. I couldn't recommend more highly.
I can't speak more highly about Hants Sash services/ Rob Gill. I was in trouble with a sash window that was stuck fully open. Big security issue for me! The counterweight of the sash seemed stuck in its lowest position. Rob was eager to help and volunteered to have a look via FaceTime and have me perform some tests. He quickly determined the cause. Opening up the weight / pulley box was avoided. I'm so glad I contacted him.. Sash window genius!
