Restoring sash windows in Farnham, Surrey

With several complete boxed sash window units being replaced, many pairs of new sashes being supplied and installed, general sash window repairs including rotten cills being replaced, replacement glazing and then our complete draught proofing service being installed to all windows. Additional security was provided locking Brighton style fasteners and Secure Sash Stops in many of the flats.

This wonderfully proportioned, Grade II listed Victorian property was built around 1860 and originally comprised a terrace of four individual residences, spread over three floors. This configuration remained until the 1950s when the first conversion into flats started.

When we look at the before and after photographs we are delighted to have been asked by the Zingari Resident’s Association to be a part of this large refurbishment project.

The sequence of photographs give a flavour of this project from the first shot – showing the building before any works started, through some examples of individual units and their original state of repair/redecoration/decay including a lintel that was so rotten when we removed it that hardly weighed anything at all.

From shot 7, you can see how we can repair the boxes in situ and avoid the need to undertake a complete replacement – something which can be problematic on Listed buildings. Numbers 11 & 12 show the new box and two sashes prior to installation but after decoration using the Dulux Weathershield exterior paint system.
